Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op (TPSS) is a natural foods grocery store with two locations, each operating in the interest of its community. We are a cooperative business, owned by our friends and neighborhood residents. The first TPSS co-op opened its doors as a vegetarian storefront in 1981. In February of 1998 we moved to a larger store on Ethan Allen Avenue in Takoma Park. Our second location opened in October of 2001 on Grubb Road in Silver Spring. We are one co-op and operate our business legally through the democratic process and involvement of members. We strive to meet the needs of the unique communities of each of our locations. Therefore you may find different products at each store and we encourage you to shop at both. Member owners and community members show their support for the co-op by their patronage and promotion of the store. In return, the co-op makes every effort to carry products from local vendors and goods that are wholesome, ecologically friendly, and socially responsible at the lowest cost possible. Our vision is that we are the people’s choice for food and community, and our mission is to promote healthful living by offering whole foods, high quality products, and community resources in a clean, friendly, cooperative grocery store.
