Holesinsky’s Vineyard and winery—the first of a growing trend in Idaho’s organic vineyards and wineries—was created by winemaker James Holesinsky to honor of his father Frank’s lifelong dream. Holesinsky’s Vineyard and winery began in 2001 with the planting of 1000 chardonnay. In 2002 the vineyard grew with the addition of 3000 syrah, 2000 Merlot, and 200 Port (Sauzao, Tiuta Cao, Touragia); the growth continued in 2006 with 1000 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1000 Riesling, and adding Muscat in 2007. The mission of Holesinsky’s Vineyard is to create world class wine with no short cuts, impurities, over processing, filtering, additives, or new oak. All of Holesinsky’s wines are made using certified USDA organic grapes.

Yorkville Cellars   Write a Review

[Wine & Beer] Updated: 0000-00-00
Yorkville Cellars is a small, family-run winery founded by proprietors, Deborah and Edward Wallo. It is located 100 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the Yorkville Highlands Appellation (AVA), which was established in 1998. It rests in Mendocino County adjacent to the Anderson Valley (much cooler) to the northwest and the Alexander Valley (slightly hotter) to the southeast. Yorkville Cellars is the only known winery that grows all eight of the main Bordeaux grapes and then bottles each individually as a varietal each vintage: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Carmenere, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. (Probably the one place on earth where one can taste these side-by-side where the grapes were all grown with the same viticultural practices within the same terroir.) All wines produced are vineyard designated. Yorkville Vineyards have been certified organic since 1986 and does not use pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers.
